1. You work as the Network Architect for Acme Inc. The company is planning to open a new branch office that will be used by the Research department. The network will host three servers, a printer, and a few client computers. You have been asked to identify the most appropriate network topology for the new network. You need to create some sample network topologies to present to the management. Experiment To design the network topologies, you need to perform the following tasks: Create virtual loopback adapters. Design a star network topology by using GNS3. Design a mesh network topology by using GNS3.

Task 1 Creating Virtual Loopback Adapters.\par
1. press the windows key. the start screen is displayed.\par
2. type control panel.\par
3. press the enter key. the comtrol panel window is displayed.\par
4. click the hardware and sound link. the Hardware and sound window is displayed.\par
5. click the device manager link under the devices and Printers link in the right pane.\par
6. Right-click the Image_Win8_CL1 node, and then select the add legacy hardware option. the Welcome to the Add hardware Wizard page of the Add Hardware wizard is displayed.\par
7. click the next buttom. the The wizard can halp you install other hardware page is displayed.\par
8. select the Install the hardware that 1 manually select from a list Advanced option.\par
9. click the next buttom. the From the list below, select the type of hardware you are installing page is displayed.\par
10. click the power buttom, and then select the Restart option. After a few moments, the lock screen is displayed.\par
11. Log on with Admin as the username and Pa$w0rd as the password.\par
Task 2. Designing a star network Topology by Using GNS3\par
1. Ensure that the Start screen is displayed.\par
2. type GNS3.\par
3. Right-click GNS3 tile, and then select the run as administrator option. the User Account Control dialog box is displayed.\par
4. click the yes button. the GNS3 window with the new project dialog box is displayed.\par
5. click the cancel button.\par
6. select Edit Symbol manager window is displayed.\par
7. press and hold the ctrl key, and then select the printer and server options in the Available symbols list.\par
8. click the right-arrow button to add the symbols in the customized nodes list.\par
9. click the ok button.\par
10. refer to the following figure to place the network components by performing steps from step 11 onwards.\par
11. click the Browse switches icon in the left pane.\par
12. close the switches pane.\par
13. press and hold the shift key, click the Add a link icon in lift pane, and then select the manual option.\par
14. click the SW1 icon, and then click 8\par
15. click the SW3 icon, and then click 8.\par
16. click the SW3 icon, and then click 7.\par
17. click the SW2 icon, and then click 8.\par
18. click the add a link icon in the left pane.\par
Task 3. Designing a mesh Network Topology by using GNS3\par
1. Ensure that the start screen is displayed.\par
2. type GNS3.\par
3. Right-click the GNS3 tile, and then select the run as administrator option. the User Account Control dialog box is displayed.\par
4. click the yes button. the GNS3 window with the New project dialog box is displayed.\par
5. click the cancel button.\par
6. refer the following figure to place the network components by performing steps from step 7 onwards.\par
7. click the browse Routers icon in the left pane.\par
8. Drag and drop router c3700 to the workplace pane from the Router pane.\par
9. close the Ruter pane.\par
