1. You are contracted to provide an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) support for Michael, one of your clients. He wants to use a scanner and a printer in his computer network. In addition, the client wants you to suggest a good location for the scanner and the printer in the network topology. Before adding the scanner and the printer, you should analyze the network topology. How will you accomplish the preceding tasks? Experiment Before suggesting a solution, you should analyze the network. To analyze the network, you need to perform the following tasks: Identify the computer name. Draw the physical topology. Draw the logical topology.

Task 1 Identifiying the computer name\par
To identify the computer name, you need to perform the following steps:\par
1. Press the windows key. the start screen is displayed.\par
2. type control Panel.\par
3. press the enter key. the control panel window is displayed.\par
4. click the system and security link. the system and security window is displayed.\par
5. click the system link in the right pane. the system window is displayed.\par
6. view the computer name under the computer name, domain, and workgroup settings section in the right pane.\par
7. close the system window.\par
Task 2 Drawing the Physical Topology\par
Draw the physical topology in the given space.\par
Task 3 Drawing the Logical topology\par
Draw the logical topology in the given space.\par

2. ABC Systems provides infrastructure and network management services to its clients. The company also provides network designing services. Kay Data Solutions contacts ABC Systems to design its complete network. You are the network administrator working with ABC Systems and you need to suggest a good network design. Experiment To create a network model, you need to perform the following tasks: Add four computers. Add a switch. Connect the switch to the four computers. Add a wireless device. Connect the switch to the wireless device. Configure DHCP in the four computers. Check the connection between PC1 and PC2. Check the connection between PC2 and PC3. Check the connection between PC3 and PC4. Check the connection between PC4 and PC1.

Task 1.Adding Four computers\par
1. Browse to the D:\\NE_11\\Simulation folder in the host machine.\par
2. Double-click the EX_01_TSK_02.exe file. the flash player window is displayed.\par
3. type cisco packet tracer in the search apps text box.\par
4. press the enter key. the cisco packet tracer window is displayed.\par
5. click the end devices icon in the bottom left pane.\par
6. click the generic PC (PC-PT) icon in the bottom pane, and then click anywhere on the stage where you want to place the generic PC.\par
7. Repeat the preceding steps 5 and 6 unitl you have four generic PC icons placed on the stage.\par
Task 2 Adding a switch\par
To add a switch, you need to perform the following step\par
1. click the switches icon in the lift pane.\par
2. click the switch 2960 icon in the bottom pame, and then click in the middle of the stage.\par
Task 3. connecting the switch to the four computers\par
1. click the connection icon in the botom pane.\par
2. click the copper Through icon in the bottom pane.\par
3. click the PC-1 PT PC1 icon on the stage, and then select the FastEthernet option.\par
4. click the 2960-34tt switch0 icon on the stage, and then select the FastEthernet0/1 option. Repeat the preceding steps 2 and 3 to connect PC-PT PC2 to fastEthernet0/2, PC-PT PC3 to fastEthernet0/3, and PC-PT PC4 to fastEthernet0/4.\par
Task 4. Adding a Wireless Device\par
1. click the Wireless Devices icon in the bottom pane.\par
2. Click the Linksys-WRT300N icon in the bottom pane, and then click in the center of the stage.\par
Task 5. Connecting the Switch to the Wireless Device.\par
1. click the connections icon in the bottom pane.\par
2. click the copper Straight Through icon in the bottom pane.\par
3. click the 2960-24ttSwitch0 icon on the stage, and then select the fastEthernet0/5 option.\par
4. click the Linksys-WRT300N Wireless Router0 icon on the stage, and then select the Ethernet 1 option.\par
Task 6. Configuring DHCP in the Four computers\par
1. click the PC-PT PC1 icon on the stage. the PC1 window is displyed.\par
2. click the Desktop tar.\par
3. click the IP configuration icon. the IP configuration dialog Box is displayed.\par
4. select the DHCP option.\par
5. close the IP configuration dialog box. \par
6. close the PC1 window.\par
7. Repeat the preceding staps 1 to 6 for the other three generic PC icons (PC-PT PC 2,PC-PT PC3,PC-PT PC4).\par
Task 7. Checking the connection Between PC1 and PC2.\par
1. click the PC-PT PC1 icon on the stage. the PC1 window is displayed.\par
2. click the command Prompt icon.\par
3. type ipconfig. and then press the enter key.\par
4. type ping 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and press the enter key.\par
5. type ping 192.168.0.101 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
6. type tracert 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and them press the enter key the trace the route to the default gatway.\par
7. close the PC1 window.\par
Task 8. Checking the Connection Between PC2 and PC3\par
1. click the PC-PT PC2 icon on the stage. the PC2 window is displayed.\par
2. click the command prompt icon.\par
3. type ipconfig on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
4. type ping 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
5. type ping 192.168.0.102 on the command prompt, and then press the enetr key.\par
6. type tracert 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
7. close the PC2 window.\par
Task 9.Chcking the connection Between PC3 and PC4.\par
1. click the PC-PT Pc3 icon on the stage. the Pc3 window is displayed.\par
2. click the command prompt icon.\par
3. type ipconfig on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
4. type ping 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
5. type ping 192.168.0.103 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
6. type tracert 192.168.0.1 on the command prompt, and then press the enter key.\par
7. Close the PC3 window.\par

1. click the PC-PT Pc4 icon on the stage. the PC4 window is displayed.\par

7. close the PC4 window.\par
8. close the flash player window.\par
