(Tags: WNDA3100v2 not working / WNDA3100 does not work on Linux / wireless adapter WNDA3100 / wnda3100v2 / WNDA3100 / adapter NETGEAR WNDA3100 / adapter NETGEAR wnda3100v2 / wireless NETGEAR adapter / NETGEAR WNDA3100 driver / NETGEAR wnda3100v2 driver / Linux Ubuntu distribution / WNDA3100 adapter on Ubuntu) after struggling with this myself, I decided to contribute to the greatness that is the Internet, as I have seen many people with the same problem and various solutions offered by the Internet, which is not all seem to understand. The key with the installation is that you need to create the necessary files to the window, and then make them compatible with Linux, which is done using Ndiswrapper. It is written for the absolute beginner Linux so advanced, do not complain.

As your own. Systems. Inf files (damage on Windows)
    • Since most Linux newbies, I came with Windows, I assume that you have installed the adapter in Windows. Navigate to the directory Program Files (windows) and look for NETGEAR folder. Open the folder Windows 2000 or XP and copy all the files there.
    • If you do not have access of Windows-systems to extract the driver, there is a way to do this directly in Ubuntu using "wine". Since it requires more processing in the Ubuntu system, and as it is written, I will not for absolute beginners to discuss it.
  1. Getting Ndiswrapper package files
    • These files can be found here. You need all three.
  2. Place the files on your Ubuntu system
    • Once you have received the files, place them in a folder on your Ubuntu system. Note that the driver files have to stay their ever-so choose a place where you will not be removed later.
  3. Installing packages Ndiswrapper
    • Open a terminal window. There are several ways to do this. The easiest presses Ctrl + Alt + T. Additional ways to see here .
    • Navigate to the directory where the files are located Ndiswrapper using the "CD" command.
    • Perform the following Linux command:
      Court DPKG-I Ndiswrapper-general
      DPKG-I Court Ndiswrapper-Utils-1.9
      Court DPKG-I ndisgtk
Make sure that you do it in that order. If you get an error checking names are used after the command '-I', as you may have given a different name or file server load did.
  4. Installing Drivers on Ubuntu
    • Navigate to the System Settings (upper right corner) and search Wireless driver. This can also be done by Applications -> System -> Windows Wireless Drivers.
    • Enter the password, and then use the navigation menu. INF-file (step 1) stored on the Ubuntu instil driver.
  5. Check the installation
    • Access to the terminal again and type: sudo lshw-C network. Next to your Ethernet interface, you should see something like this:
    • -net
    • Description: Wireless Interface
    •        Physical ID: 1
    •        Logical name: wlan0
  6. Setting up a wireless network
    • Go to the Network Manager, by clicking one of the icons in the upper right corner. Here you can select the desired network and configure. You can use the same AAC data you used under Windows.
I hope that this quest for all sorts WNDA3100 (v2) in solving Ubuntu adapter.
