If you've got to return your fancy Android phone for some reason, or you plan to sell your older model on eBay, you'll want to make sure your private information is thoroughly cleaned from the device. Setting your Android phone back to its factory defaults is simple enough, but ensuring your phone is completely clear is a two-step process. First, you need to format your microSD card: Under 'Settings,' tap the entry for 'SD Card and Phone Storage.' From here you'll need to unmount and then format your SD card (both options are clearly labeled). After that, go back out to the main settings menu and tap the 'Privacy' option. Under that menu you'll find an option for 'Factory Data Reset.' This will return the phone to the state it was in when you first took it out of the box.
